Major Activities

  • Technical support for difficulties of domestic manufacturers by operating FACE.
  • Reliability evaluation of materials and components by cyclic corrosion, fatigue crack propagation, vibration tests, etc.
  • Technical support for evaluation of aerospace materials and components based on the VHCF(Very High Cycles Fatigue) test.
  • Technical support for high rate and crash tests.
  • Support for test and evaluation as an internationally accredited testing institution.

Major Research Areas

  • Investigation of damage mechanism on the failed materials and components
  • Mechanical testing at all size, rate, and temperature scales
  • Non-destructive defect analysis
  • Evaluation of crashworthiness of materials and components
  • Reliability evaluation for materials and components under extreme environmental and operating conditions
  • Standard and certification service support through the operation of an internationally accredited testing institution

Future Research Plan

  • Advancement of failure analysis
  • Database construction related to failure analysis
  • Expansion of certificated testing and evaluation services for aerospace and automobile materials
  • Development of resonant characteristics and reliability evaluation methods of components by vibration test
  • Development of material evaluation methods in extreme environments

Major R&D Activities

Technical support for the evaluation of mechanical properties of metal and CMC materials using an ultra-high temperature fatigue testing machine

[Introduction]

  • Static and dynamic test for new metal materials, such as ceramic matrix composite, used in the aerospace industry under the ultra-high temperature environment (1,500℃)

[Contents and Results]

  • This system shall be used to test dynamic material characteristics of aviation components following International Standards ASTM E466 and ASTM D3479.
  • Technical support for 3 or 4 points, bending test for heat resistant material
