KIMS-Doosan Enerbility Technology Exchange Meeting was held

Accelerating new materials development for energy field!

A technology exchange meeting was held to respond to the future energy materials field and to enhance industry-research cooperation.

Korea Institute of Materials Science (KIMS), a government-funded research institute under the Ministry of Science and ICT, and Doosan Enerbility (President Yeonin Jung) held the KIMS-Doosan Enerbility Technology Exchange Meeting at Doosan Enerbility Guest House on Thursday, December 22nd. The meeting was attended by key officials including Jung-hwan Lee, the President of KIMS, and Shim-gyun Yuk, the Director of the Technology Innovation Research Center of Doosan Enerbility. They shared the research status and plans along with super heat-resistant alloy technology for high-temperature applications and precision casting process technology for gas turbine high-temperature components.

At the meeting, KIMS presented the current research status, including superalloys for high-temperature components for turbines, the materials for metal 3D printing and the lamination processes, and cryogenic materials for storing liquid hydrogen. Doosan Enerbility presented precision casting process technology for gas turbine high-temperature components (blades or vanes), 3D printing technology, technology development in hydrogen gas turbine and hydrogen field, new technology development status in welding and joining, and SMR manufacturing technology. The two parties will prepare a technology development cooperation plan to enhance technological cooperation.

Jung-hwan Lee, the President of KIMS, said, “Industry-research convergence is crucial to developing new materials for the future energy field and responding to the era of technological hegemony. With the technology exchange, Korea’s technological capabilities are expected to be strengthened through our close cooperation to promote joint research.”
