KIMS signed an MOU with NPA Gyeongnam for the progress of scientific investigation |
The Korea Institute of Materials Science and the Gyeongnam National Police Agency signed a memorandum of
understanding on Tue. June 29 for the progress of scientific investigations.
The MOU was concluded to advance investigation skills by applying science and technology. Both institutions aim
to introduce new equipment and strengthen investigators' competency in preparation for crimes targeting larger areas
and new forms of crime due to advancements in scientific technology. The two parties will carry out scientific and
technological support for the investigation, conduct R&D (developing bulletproof/sword-proof materials, illegal drug
detection), and establish a cooperative network of science and security.
The president of KIMS, Jung-hwan Lee, said, "KIMS has a number of research achievements that can help crime
investigation, such as the optical sensor materials for detecting drug components in sweat and fuel cell for unmanned
aerial vehicles." "KIMS and Gyeongnam NPA will organically cooperate and do our utmost so that residents live in
a safer environment.”
