Cooperation for the future of the surface treatment field! |
The Korea Institute of Materials Science signed an MOU with the Korea Surface Treatment Industry Cooperative to support the
surface treatment industry. The comprehensive business partnership agreement signed on Monday, November 22 in the
conference room of the main building of KIMS is to seek ways to cooperate to support the surface treatment industry.
KIMS, located in Seongsan-gu, Changwon, is a government-funded research institute under the Ministry of Science
and ICT.
Founded in 1980, the Korea Surface Treatment Industry Cooperative has led the generic technology ranging from
automobiles, machinery, electricity, electronics, and aerospace industries. To contribute to the sustainable development of the
plating business, it plays a pivotal role in leading the development of the domestic plating industry as well as creating
specialized complexes, holding surface treatment technology competitions, and pioneers overseas markets.
The agreement aims to share and link mutual policies to develop the surface treatment industry by establishing an organic
cooperative system. The two organizations will carry out △fostering industry through industry-academia cooperation,
△exchanging technology and information for cooperation △providing occupational training for the workers in the surface
treatment industry, and △providing employment support and on-the-job training.
Jung-hwan Lee, the President of KIMS, said, “The purpose of the agreement is to look ahead to the future of the surface
treatment field which is leaping forward and to find a way for the industry to play a pivotal role in the market.” “As
surface treatment is the final processing stage of metal materials, enhancing the quality of the product plays an important
role in determining the product’s lifespan and price. KIMS will continue to work hard to find ways to contribute to the
development of the domestic surface treatment industry,” he added.
