Korea Institute of Materials Science(KIMS), a government-funded research institute under the Ministry of Science and ICT of the Republic of Korea started having an annual discussion with Seoul National University(SNU), a top research-oriented university in Korea to share their knowledge and promote joint research projects.

Colloquium means "talking together" or "having a conversation" in Latin which basically indicates an open space where everybody can freely express their opinions. The purpose of this meeting is to set aside a periodic meeting where experts and professionals gather together to find ways to localize materials, parts and equipment, and also to cope with the 4th Industrial Revolution.

The meeting co-hosted by Research Planning Coordination Division at KIMS and New Materials Engineering at SNU is to be held annual basis from the year 2021 to 2023. This year, the two organizations decided on annual topic for the meeting which is on structural metal materials and began their first chapter on Feb 19th.
