President Ke LU of the Institute of Metal Research(IMR) in Shenyang, China and President Hak-Min KIM of the Korea Institute
of Materials Science(KIMS) signed a memorandum of understanding for collaborative research in four fields of: magnesium
alloy for forging, single crystal superalloy for next generation, bioactive coating on implants, and magnetic nano-particle
materials on Thursday, May 29, 2008. The signing was held in Beijing, China, partaking the governmental aim of the two
countries to enhance the field of science and technology.
In addition to the four instituted governmental projects, IMR and KIMS held a one-day workshop to collaborate on four to six
more collaborative projects the following day on Friday, May 30, 2008. The workshop opened with a greeting from IMR Deputy
Director Hui-ming Cheng, KIMS president Hak-Min Kim, and Ministry of Knowledge Economy of Korea(MKE) Minister Lee,
proceeding with research presentations on seven topics of advanced materials as well as a space for practical discussions to actively further close-knit partnership between IMR and KIMS.
