Dr. Ji-hoon Yoo of KIMS inaugurated as the 25th president of the Korea Powder Metallurgy & Materials Institute

We will strengthen communication to make the powder industry a hub!


As the 25th president of the Korea Powder Metallurgy & Materials Institute, Ji-hoon Yoo, director of the Powder Materials Division at the Korea Institute of Materials Science (KIMS) was inaugurated. Established in 1993, the Korea Powder Metallurgy & Materials Institute is playing an important role in leading the world’s powder technology with more than 2,200 members and 83 member companies in the field through a solid academic foundation and strong links with the industry.



In his inaugural address, the new president Ji-hoon Yoo said, “At the point where we have to draw another 30 years into the future, along with the past 30 years of the institute, when we need a lot of attention and effort to complete the 5 major tasks for the development of the institute.” In addition, he said, “I will do my best to think and communicate with the new executive team and strive for the development of the society so that the results of the society’s past efforts can be gradually realized.”



Dr. Ji-hoon Yoo obtained his bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees in metal materials engineering from Hanyang University, and has been working at the KIMS since 2003. He is serving as the chairman of the N-Team of the Ministry of Science and ICT, the advisory committee member of the Strategic Material Technology Advisory Group of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, and the expert member of the technology level evaluation (3D printing equipment · material technology) of the Ministry of Science and ICT. Dr. Ji-hoon Yoo’s term of office is one year from January 1st.
