The Korea Institute of Materials Science holds an exchange meeting for the future e-mobility electrification parts industry

The wave of electrification for future e-mobility, crisis is opportunity!

The Korea Institute of Materials Science(KIMS), a government-funded research institute under the Ministry of Science and ICT, is preparing a forum to discuss changes in the perception of the future automobile industry and practical countermeasures. KIMS will hold the ‘Future e-mobility electrification parts industry exchange meeting’ on June 20th (Tuesday) in the seminar room of Research Building 1 at KIMS.

Changwon in Gyeongsangnam-do has focused on the automobile parts industry centered on the machinery industry. However, due to the current wave of electrification in the automobile industry, 30,000 internal combustion engine vehicle parts is now facing a trend of decreasing by about 37% to less than 20,000.

Through this exchange meeting, KIMS hopes to create an opportunity to renew the old perspective of looking at automobiles. Until now, if the automobile industry was recognized as a machine industry and related parts as mechanical parts, in the upcoming various future mobility industries, it is necessary to break away from machine-centered thinking to find new opportunities. To this end, at this exchange meeting, Lee Hang-gu, the president of the Jeonbuk Institute of Automobile Convergence Technology, will make a presentation on 'Electric Powered Autonomous Vehicle Industry Trends and Light Material Linkage', and Kim Se-hoon, a technical advisor who is a former vice president of Hyundai Motor Company, will give a presentation on 'future e-mobility electrification direction.'

Dr. Jung-hwan Lee, the president of KIMS, said, "We prepared this exchange meeting to find new opportunities for local companies to develop in the future e-mobility industry." he also mentioned, "I hope that this discussion will help to share awareness of the collapse/reorganization of the global mobility and parts industry supply chain ecosystem and find a direction for development."
