KIMS held the 2nd Smart Window Industrial Technology Exchange Meeting

To lead the way in the smart window revolution!

The Korea Institute of Materials Science(KIMS), a government-funded research institute under the Ministry of Science and ICT, is set to host the second Smart-Window Industry and Technology Seminar on Thursday, 21st September at the Miryang Culture and Sports Center and the Miryang Youth Center. This Seminar, which is held simultaneously with the‘10th Nano Convergence Industry Exhibition (NANOPIA 2023)’hosted by Gyeongnam Technopark and KIMS, aims to facilitate direct experience and exchange of technologies concerning materials, parts, and equipment related to smart windows.

The seminar presentation shall introduce smart window technology in alliance with smart farms and the current stage of development monitoring the contribution of domestic industry, academia, and research institutes. Professor Seung-won Oh from Kangwon National University will present‘Angular-selective Liquid Crystal Smart Window’, Dr. Jaewon Heo of Corning will present‘Diffractive Liquid Crystal Technology for Smart Window Applications’, Professor Yonghyun Kim of AH Materials will present‘Technologies for Functional Conductive Polymers and Hybrid Materials.’As an overseas speaker, Professor Jaehoon Jeong of the University of Queensland, Australia, will give a presentation on ‘ The MEGA CRC Project.’In addition, Dr. Jinsang Kim at Gyeongnam Technopark Nano Convergence Center will introduce the Gyeongnam Technopark Miryang Nano Convergence Center. They will also get an opportunity to visit‘large-scale wet roll-to-roll covering facility’owned by the Miryang Nano Convergence Center of Gyeongnam Technopark and the Miryang Technology Innovation Research Center of KIMS.

Dr. Dong-chan Lim, who chaired this technology seminar, said, “Significant exchange of practical insights among industry, academia, and research took place during the first seminar held in January of this year.”and“We anticipate the 2nd seminar to serve as an additional stepping-stone towards the expansion of the smart-window industry and associated companies. The fothcoming seminar will be able to contribute to the progression of technology and industry, including the encouragement of associated industries and the establishment of supportive measures,” he added.

Meanwhile, KIMS has established the Smart-Window Industry and Technology Seminar and is recruiting members (companies) to fulfill its function as an association in the future. If you are interested in joining, please refer to the website (www.kims.re.kr).
