The Korea Institute of Materials Science(KIMS), a government-funded research institute under the Ministry of Science and ICT, extended financial assistance to underprivileged individuals in the region during the Lunar New Year holiday, showcasing the collective warmth of its employees.

On Monday, February 5th, KIMS allocated funds raised by its employees to support four local underprivileged families for the Lunar New Year. The recipients of these donations included Dodam Dodam, a day care center for individuals with cognitive and physical disabilities; Jinhae House of Hope, a foster home for children; Changwon Women's Shelter, a home for women affected by domestic violence; and Gimhae Bo Hoon Nursing Home, a facility catering to national veterans.

KIMS maintains an annual tradition of visiting local social welfare facilities to distribute donations collected from its staff. Last year, a total of KRW 25.5 million was donated during the Lunar New Year and Chuseok holidays, with additional contributions aiding victims of earthquakes in Turkestan, flood-stricken communities, and providing support to military personnel. Furthermore, KRW 12 million was donated to the Korean Red Cross through the Love Sharing Society and KRW 3.8 million was contributed to the Gyeongnam Community Fundraising Society through the Senior Citizen Service Society. In sum, KIMS contributed KRW 41.3 million to local communities throughout the preceding year.

Dr. Jung-hwan Lee, President of KIMS, expressed gratitude towards the employees, stating, "Our dedicated employees work diligently to raise meaningful donations and extend compassion to our local neighbors in need, fostering a warm holiday spirit." He further remarked,“I extend my sincere appreciation to all employees for their heartfelt contributions, and I earnestly hope that such acts of generosity will propel our society towards greater levels of sharing and communal advancement.”
