Realizing carbon neutrality with highlight materials technology

KIMS held a briefing session on promising carbon-neutral technologies for commercialization

The Korea Institute of Materials Science will develop a platform to discover research outcomes for resolving national policy issues

and social problems and to focus on promoting them. In order to promote technology transfer and form a nationwide consensus,

KIMS started selecting “KIMS Highlight Technology” this year to discover research outcomes related to national policy issues and

social problems among its technologies. Technologies related to the topics selected each year can be applied by research teams or

internal recommendations, and about 5 to 10 technologies are finally selected through internal/external expert evaluation.

The selected technologies will receive commercialization support such as building IP portfolio, Patent infringement

investigation, Business Model (BM) development, Technology commercialization strategy establishment, Technology value

evaluation, and prototype production, and promotion support including Sales Material KIT (SMK) production for technology

promotion, media report, and research outcomes exhibition and displaying item production.

With the theme of the year, “carbon neutrality and electric vehicle,” KIMS selected a total of 10 technologies including 5 in the

carbon-neutral sector and 5 in the electric vehicle sector based on evaluation criteria:

technologies available for material/part/system prototype production and performance evaluation, experimental data,

prototype test result, certified technology, technology patented domestically and internationally, technologies required

marketing and publicity in related national policies and industries.

KIMS plans to establish a platform for systematically promoting and marketing research outcomes by linking the selected

technologies to the briefing session on promising carbon-neutral technologies for commercialization which is held at KINTEX, Ilsan

on June 17th. The platform is expected not only to support the technology transactions by industry and technology but also to

build cooperation network for promoting technology transaction when a technology commercialization and publicity platform are

established.
